Results of Grievance Notices - 2007 Tax Year
Notices indicating
the results of grievance hearings for those who appealed were mailed out
on July 9, 2007.
If you are satisfied with the results, no further
action is required. If you wish to appeal the decision of the
Appraisers, you must do so in writing by July 23, 2007. The written
notice should be directed to the UTG Supervisor. Hearings by the Board
of Civil Authority will be by appointment only.

Reappraisal for 2007

Reappraisal for 2007 is completed.
New values will served as the basis for state and
municipal taxes for the coming tax year - 2007.
Douglas McArthur, the reappraisal consultant, and UTG
Appraisers will be conducted the grievance hearings that began June 20th
and ended July 3rd, 2007.
New property
values resulting from the State-mandated reappraisal of the Unified
Towns & Gores will be in effect for the 2007 tax year. Property owners
may view their new values by opening the attached documents - by town.
Official change of appraisal notices were
mailed June 1, 2007. The deadline for appeals was June 16, 2007.
Grievance hearings ended on July 3, 2007. Results of the hearings were
mailed July 9, 2007.
Persons appealing the decisions of the appraisers
must submit written notice by July 23, 2007. Hearings are in-person, by
appointment. Property owners can assign an agent to appear on their
behalf, but the agent must have a signed letter. A certified letter can
also serve as an appearance if the letter is received by the appointment
date.

Consulting, Inc. completed an analysis of how the Common Levels of
Appraisal were determined for the UTG in 2005. We used recommendations
from the analysis to petition the tax department (Property Valuation &
Review) in the 2006 equalization study.
The analysis provides interesting reading.
